Maui Social Media User Group

Maui SMUGThe Maui Social Media User Group is a new monthly series of workshops to help Valley Isle residents get started with, and make the most of, social media tools.

The group is “a community born of a demand among businesses and individuals on the island to learn more about social media in real life situations,” explains Liza Pierce (@AMauiBlog) of A Maui Blog. “Our goal is to help, educate and learn from each other.”

Liza joins Peter Liu (@Peterliu47), Jeff Bennett (@digitalsplash), Jenn Russo (@JennRusso), and Tommy Russo (@TommyRusso) as a resident panel of social media enthusiasts and trainers who are willing to share their time and knowledge.

The Maui SMUG is supported in part by the High Tech program of the Maui Economic Development Board, co-founded by program head Kim Hussein (@AlohaKim). Maui SMUG meets every last thursday of the month at the Maui Economic Development Board building. The first meeting in January drew a capacity crowd, with a recap posted online by Kathy Becklin (@AlohaKathy).

The most recent workshop was held on May 26. Registration is now open for the next meeting on June 30.

“Everyone is welcome in the community: experienced users, novices, or people just curious about using social media can join the users group,” Liza says.

For more information, visit the Maui SMUG website, or connect with the group on Twitter (@MauiSMUG) or on Facebook.
